The future doesn’t care about your feelings.
Stop waiting for permission and just do the work.
I’ve been watching people wait.
Not in the obvious way. They’re busy, posting content, attending webinars, updating their LinkedIn. But they’re still waiting. For the algorithm to favour them. For someone to validate their idea. For the “right time” to launch that thing.
But obviously, the market doesn’t send invitations.
We’ve confused preparation with procrastination. We tell ourselves we’re being strategic when really, we’re just scared of looking a bit stupid. And to be honest, that fear does makes sense. Putting work into the world means people might ignore it. Or worse, notice it and not care. Or EVEN worse, notice it, not care, and ridicule it.
But here’s what I keep coming back to…the future is already being built by people who aren’t waiting for “permission”. They’re shipping mediocre first versions. Making offers before they feel ready. Publishing thoughts that aren’t fully functioning.
The gap between “good enough” and “perfect” is where most ideas die.
I’m not saying rush everything. I’m saying there’s a difference between refining your work and hiding behind endless preparation, waiting for the “perfect” moment or environment.
One moves things forward. The other just “feels” productive.
Your feelings about whether you’re ready are real. They’re just not relevant to whether the work needs doing.
The people building the future aren’t braver than you. They’re just moving anyway.
